Mike Cherry born in Freeport, Texas loves to be one of the proud Brazoria County Bad Boys. Index racing IS this man’s blood. Mike is the master of “make it work,” the McGyver of the garage. He constantly looks for the out of the box homemade solution that will make the car go that much faster. He’s intense behind the wheel too... one bad bull that you surely don’t want to mess with- Plus to his advantage, he’s a professional trash talker, so don’t get him started. Besides being a bad ass driver and mechanic, Mike knows how to catch fish, scuba dive, and kill stuff with his bare hands.

Veronica Cherry, also born in Freeport Texas, is the fuel behind WCR. Famous for her pit road fajitas, she’s also been known to grill a few kitchen utensils every now and then. Queen of the checkbook, Veronica supports the team financially and is the only one with any monetary constraint. Because of her wonderful management skills, the team hasn’t put the house up for mortgage and still continues to improve the quality of the car. She also manages to provide 100% support, both for her husband and her son in a fairly dangerous sport. Needless to say, she’s the glue that holds everything together for Wild Cherry Racing.

Joseph Cherry was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. Angleton bracket racer by heart, this senior Houston UTI student is Jeckyl under the hood and Hyde behind the wheel. This kid is the complete package, the only thing he lacks is a little luck from time to time, but then again don’t we all? Joey’s strength is his consistency, his weakness, impatience. Redlighting tends to be his worst enemy. However, if Joey brings his “A” game, you don’t want to be in the opposite lane. He gets off the line quick and is a dead eye on his dial in...

Loni Matula was also born in Lake Jackson, Texas. Her smooches are known to bring "Good Luck." She's a dedicated WCR participant who is there rain or shine, and who sends the racers off at the staging lanes and greets them at the finish line. Loni is well known for her attempted sabotage of an import by
planting squirrels inside its inner workings. It took a week and some hair loss
to capture the beasts, but they were finally removed. She also
wants to involve the race car in any future wedding plans. Rock On.

Wild Cherry Racing is excited to have not one but two team mascots: Polaris, a golden labrador retriever, has been the family pup for many years. Don’t let her age fool you though, this dog, like WCR, is full of “GO”. Named Polaris for her agility and williness to not stop, this pooch is proud of WCR and is happy to “Load Up” for any race event... Turtle, the beagle royale, loves to ride out to the track and chill in the bed of the truck, especially if pit road fajitas are on the menu. All food aside, she knows which winning team to root for...
